Young reporter tries to get into the world of racing drivers to write an article and gets close with the veteran Sarti just to find how simple and on the other hand complicated the lives of the drivers actually are.

Masterpiece of car movies - Formula One seen from the inside with all the tenstions between drivers, superstitions, danger that they take in each race and... death that was still a real danger on the track in those days. Great cast, interesting plot and superb scenes during the races in the times when everything was up to the drivers - you just can’t miss that one!

Grand Prix quotes

Jean-Pierre Sarti:
The danger? Well, of course. But you are missing a very important point. I think if any of us imagined - really imagined - what it would be like to go into a tree at 150 miles per hour we would probably never get into the cars at all, none of us. So it has always seemed to me that to do something very dangerous requires a certain absence of imagination.
