Pontiac United States

Pontiac was an automobile brand established in 1926 and planed as a companion make for General Motors Oakland branch. However Pontiac proved to be more popular than GM Oakland and overtook the area while GM Oakland was closed. Since 1933 Pontiac became a companion make for Chevrolet. During World War 2 Pontiac remained the only automobile manufacturer that wasn’t switched to military production and thus was still making civilian cars. After the war Pontiac switched from universal or family cars to large cruiser cars and soon they became the symbol of Pontiac and Chevrolet. Since 1960s they introduced the line of sports cars with Pontiac Firebird as their main product. Unfortunately since 1980s their cars were becoming less and less competitive, or in some cases just oldfashiones and in 2010 Pontiac became the second brand of General Motors (after Oldsmobile) that ceased all production in the beginning or 21st century.
