Jaguar United KingdomOriginally British car manufacturer founded in 1922 in Whitley, southern suburb of Coventry. On 4 September 1922 two friends, William Walmsley and William Lyons started a Swallow Sidecar Company that was producing sidecars for the motorcycles. Since 1927 they started to make cars, first was 1927 Austin Seven Swallow, based on Austin Seven car. After World War 2 the name and company logo were changed to avoid any association with the SS emblems. After several changes of ownership (including merge into British Motor Holdings, return to independence, take over by Ford) now Indian Tata Motors company is the owner of Jaguar.
From the beginning Jaguar was symbol of British sport cars with unique style of the body and high performance. In 1950s Jaguar also moved into the luxury cars section of the market. Since then Jaguar became legend of British car industry being equally valued in Great Britain and abroad.
