The Saint (1962, United Kingdom) Running time: 50 minutes
Language: English Simon Templar is extraordinary man - charming, well dressed, well spoken, drives a great car, makes small jokes and... helps people with their problems. In many ways he is a Robin Hood like character, who won?t stand idle when danger or adventure awaits, but he will always keep his perfect manners and elegant suit in tact.
TV series based on the character of modern day Robin Hood created in 1920s by Leslie Charteris. It was mixture of adventure, mystery, comedy and action... Well, sort-of-action, it was 1960s TV series afterall. But as it was typical for such British TV series (James Bond movies, The Avengers) there was a little treat for car fans - the main character usually drove some great car (or at least great looking car).
In case of Simon Templar the producers tried to get the Jaguar E-Type to be his trademark car, but Jaguar wasn?t interested in that sort of promotion, so instead he was driving Swedish beautiful car Volvo P1800. The Saint let Roger Moore and Volvo P1800 become icons of the 1960s.
