Smokey and the Bandit 2 (1980, United States)Running time: 100 minutes
Language: English Big Enos Burdette is running for Governor of Texas and looks into ways to improve his chances. When he overhears the current governor yelling at his assistant about some problem with transporting some crate from Miami to the Republican Party convention in Dallas he sees his opportunity. He hires Bandit and Snowman to take car of that crate, but unfortunately Bandit is not exactly available. After he has split up with Carrie he became alcoholic and lost his Pontiac Trans Am. Without Bandit Snowman will not be able to complete the task, so he calls the only person that could put Bandit back on track - Carrie. She was about to get married to Junior Justice (again), but leaves him (again) and rushes up to get Bandit. Sheriff Buford T. Justice can’t let her do the same trick again, so he sets after her, and at the same time after Bandit. When Bandit and Snowman reach Miami it turns out there is another problem with their task - the crate they were suppose to take to Dallas is actually... an elephant. What is more it looks like the elephant has some health problems and they really have to get going.
Second film from Smokey and the Bandit series and comparing to first one it was a huge step back. This time the creators tried to make it more comedy than action and it did not actually worked. Yes, there are some preety good scenes with car chases, but the whole elephant subplot was a huge mistake. Dom DeDeLuise was a great comedian and fine actor, but even he could not save that one.
