Euro Truck Simulator (2008)

Euro Truck Simulator 2008 car movie

Game developed in Czech Republic gives the player chance to become a long distance lorry drivers. We begin in one of the countries (from Poland to Portugal and from UK to Italy) delivering the loads between main cities and with time (and money) expending to further countries. The loads are various - from food, electronics to fuel or chemicals. The road network is very simple, but still sometimes it takes a bit of planning to find the place to rest or refuel. Since we drive only in European Union there are no border formalities, so all we have to do is drive.

Basically the game is really underdeveloped - you choose the load to deliver, hook up the trailer, set out for the destination city, refuel or rest (if needed), you leave the trailer at given point and... start all over again. Oh yeah, you have to switch on the lights during the night (although most of the nights are rather bright), sometimes you switch on the wipers when it rains (although without them the raindrops don’t really make it harder to see the road) and a... Yup, that’s it. Does it make any change what goods you are delivering? None. Does it make any change what kind of trailer you are tranporting? None. Does weather make any change? None - on wet surface truck behaves exactly the same as on dry. What is the point? There is no point in the game, there is no ending or stages - you just deliver the trailers to given destinations, gain money, improve slightly the truck and deliver some more trailers. So, Euro? Yes. Truck? Yes, lots of them. Simulator? Not really...

While playing Euro Truck Simulator the time really flies... No, I’m lying, this game will make you realize how eventful and exciting your own job is when you will see how boring the job of long distance lorry driver is. Yes, they see different countries (or rather different highways) and different cities (or rather different logistic centers), but overall it is a long streak of boring travels. The game is really relaxing (in fact surprisingly relaxing), but also is on a verge of actually doing a job of truck driver without getting paid for it (a border which was crossed in Euro Truck Simulator 2).
