Volvo P1800 trivia factsAfter the premiere of Jaguar E-Type and Volvo P1800 on Geneva Motor Show in 1961 producers of upcoming TV series "The Saint" offered the Jaguar chance to make E-Type the official car of The Saint, but Jaguar wasn?t interested since there was already huge demand for their car. Volvo, that was approached as second company, did saw it as a chance to promote their car and soon character of Simon Templar was driving a P1800. The TV series was so popular in the 1960s that it made Volvo an icon and the sales of P1800 increased significantly.
When in 1978 TV series "Return of the Saint" was started Jaguar was determined to take the opportunity this time and offered Jaguar XJ-S for new Simon Templar. |
