After the premiere of Jaguar E-Type and Volvo P1800 on Geneva Motor Show in 1961 producers of upcoming TV series "The Saint" offered the Jaguar chance to make E-Type the official car of The Saint, but Jaguar wasn’t interested since there was already huge demand for their car. The TV series proved to be very popular in the 1960s and turned Volvo P1800 into one of the 1960s icon (not to mention that it boosted the sales).
When in 1978 TV series "Return of the Saint" was started Jaguar was determined to take the opportunity this time and offered Jaguar XJ-S for new Simon Templar. |
