Dodge Charger

Dodge Charger was created when Chrysler was trying to enter the sport cars market - the parameters were chosen to fit between the "pony car" Ford Mustang and the "personal luxury" car Ford Thunderbird. Still it had to be based on a B-body (the standard platform developed by Chrysler to unify all the chassis used in their cars) and Dodge Coronet body was used as a base for the development. The effect was a good looking car with high-performance engine that initially was a serious competition for Ford Mustang.

Why is it legendary?

Dodge Charger is one of those legendary cars, who became legend because... they didn’t actually make it to the top. Dodge Charger was strong competition for Ford Mustang, but always was in his shadow. Despite the fame that gained through the TV Series "The Dukes of Hazzard" still Mustang was always few steps ahead. Charger was discontinued after 1978, but still is one of the best looking American cars.
